SCI Group is a boutique construction and fit-out company, proudly delivering premium spaces since 2005. What began as Sydney Commercial Interiors has now grown into a national business, with operations across NSW, VIC, SA, and the ACT – supported by local delivery teams who understand their communities.
We specialise in end-to-end commercial fit-outs, refurbishments, design & construct, and repositioning projects. From design and demolition through to completion, our team provides a seamless service across diverse sectors – workplace, sport & leisure, hospitality & hotel, retail, medical & wellness, and industrial & commercial. Clients trust us to combine the highest quality workmanship with innovative problem-solving, delivering projects safely, on budget, and on time.
The Beginning
SCI Group was founded by Chris Henderson, a builder with over 30 years’ experience in construction and fit-outs. Chris began his career as an apprentice carpenter and joiner with Adelaide-based IJF, an international joinery company. After years delivering large-scale joinery projects across the Asia-Pacific, he moved to Sydney and focused on running complete commercial fit-outs.
In 2005, Chris established Sydney Commercial Interiors with a vision to bring craftsmanship, problem-solving, and genuine client partnerships to the fit-out sector. That vision has since grown into SCI Group – a trusted partner to national brands, government clients, and boutique operators alike.
Today
SCI Group’s strength lies in our agility. We are nimble, adaptable, and able to make big decisions fast, giving our clients personalised attention and confidence throughout every project. Our reputation is built on trust, integrity, and respect – the reason so many of our clients return, and our subcontractor relationships remain strong.
Our work has been recognised nationally, including at the 2023 MBA NSW Awards for the Sydney Roosters Centre of Excellence Foundation Room and Glory Days Café, and at the 2024 MBA SA Awards for Tunki Restaurant at The Lakes Hotel.

Founder & Director
Chris Henderson is the founding director of SCI Group, with over 30 years of experience in construction and fit-outs. A licensed carpenter and joiner by trade, he is known for his inspiring leadership, problem-solving skills, and client-focused approach. Chris motivates a loyal, expert team and continues to drive SCI Group’s success with his passion for building and spirited personality.
